Doing the right thing by our members, our employees, and the communities in which we operate is something we are passionate about. We enable our Clubs to support charities and good causes that have meaning for our members and team members.
In the first six months of this year, more than 90% of our fundraising efforts have been aimed at local causes, from Birmingham Crisis Centre, a local charity providing a safe haven for victims of domestic abuse, to The Henry Allen Trust in Milton Keynes, which is a charity supporting children and their families battling childhood cancers, to Somebody Cares, a local retail charity in Aberdeen.
Highlights include David Lloyd Chigwell, raising an impressive £26,000 for Chabad Lubavitch, North East London and Essex Foodbank with members and team members taking part in a 12-hour Spinathon.
David Lloyd Newbury raised a massive £56,000 for New Life Babies, which provides neo-natal equipment to as many special care baby units as possible, improving the chances of a new baby surviving and thriving. The Club held a 24-hour sportathon and fun day.
David Lloyd Chorley, raised £13,000 for the local Derian House Childrens Hospice with members completing a sponsored bike ride from Buckingham Palace to Derian House.
National and international charities have also benefitted from our team members and members determination to help others. This includes MIND, Comic Relief, Miracles in Geneva and AECC in Spain, where Clubs ran a range of different events including a swim relay, charity fundraising ball, a half marathon walk, a skipping challenge and a bake sale.
In a bid to encourage children and young adults to take up tennis in the UK, we ran an initiative and collected 800 preloved tennis racquets for refurbishment then shared them with local community initiatives and schools.
We’ve been working with the The Trussell Trust since March this year, collecting food donations across our business to help end hunger in the UK. Giving back to the community is incredibly important to us at David Lloyd Clubs and this is just the start of our work with the Trust. Contributions from members and team members will help The Trussell’s Trust’s vital work supporting a network of food banks across the UK who provide emergency support to people facing hardship.
We are proud to be BBC Children in Need’s official Health and Wellbeing Partner. From bake sales to Pudsey group exercise takeovers and Bearpee Challenges, together we’ve shown the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together for a worthy cause.
Our fundraising efforts have been a great success and we’ve raised over £157,000 since November 2023. This fantastic achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication, generosity and support of our members, employees and the entire David Lloyd Clubs community. Everyone’s contribution will make a significant impact on the lives of countless children in need.

Kitround, in partnership with Visa and David Lloyd Clubs, collected over 6,000 items of pre-loved sports kit to help fund more young people playing sport.
Up and down the country, David Lloyd Clubs members have been rallying together to donate pre-loved kit that will be uploaded and sold at affordable prices via kitround.com. In doing so they are helping to remove barriers to sport, reducing waste and raising awareness of the benefits of re-commerce and sustainability.
