Tennis is where everything started at David Lloyd Clubs, and we're proud to offer some of the finest tennis facilities across the UK and Europe. Our indoor and outdoor tennis courts, as well as outdoor tennis domes, provide members with the opportunity to play all year round, so you can get your fix whatever the weather.

We also offer a variety of different types of quality tennis court surfaces, so whatever your playing style, you’ll find everything you need to make the most of your time on court.

A variety of surfaces

With close to 1,000 tennis courts across our UK clubs, there's plenty of space to enjoy a game. Whether it’s a match outside in the sunshine, a practice session indoors, or a game under our unique tennis domes which keep the elements at bay, you can get some court time in whatever the weather. Many of our outdoor courts are floodlit, so you won’t have to worry about darkness curtailing your match!

It’s not just a choice of surroundings either. We’re proud to offer a range of surfaces at a number of our clubs, so you can really test your game and vary your tennis experience. Some of these include:

- Artificial grass

We offer different types of membership at David Lloyd Clubs. Choose a package that includes access to our racquets facilities and you'll be able to book time on our courts using the David Lloyd Clubs app - it'll show you which courts are available when, and you can specifically select your favourite court. You can book in advance, so you can fit in a game around your schedule.

Some people simply prefer to play on indoor tennis courts; others head inside for a game when the weather isn't playing ball. We have indoor tennis courts at most of our clubs, so if that's your preference, you're likely to have plenty of choice. At selected clubs we also have tennis domes - outdoor courts that are covered by a bubble structure for year-round play. These courts have artificial or AstroTurf surfaces.

If you enjoy playing tennis outdoors, you'll be spoilt for choice at David Lloyd Clubs. Many of our clubs have outdoor tennis courts, which - as with indoor courts - members can easily book via the David Lloyd Clubs app. Many of our outdoor tennis courts have premium clay surfaces.

There's no right or wrong answer when it comes to choosing the right tennis surface for you. Try a variety of surfaces and you'll soon get a sense for which suits your style. Hard courts are good for all-round play at a medium speed, whereas as carpet suits a faster game. Clay is the slowest type of tennis court surface, which can make it a good bet for tennis beginners.

The tennis booking process at our clubs is very simple. If your chosen membership gives you access to our racquets facilities, you'll be able to book a court via the David Lloyd Clubs app. Court availability corresponds with what is shown in the app. You can book a specific court too, so if you have a particular favourite, you'll be able to select this at the time of making your booking.

Do tennis court bookings cost extra?

If tennis is included in your membership, there's no extra charge for booking a court.
