With school, study and a social life (not to mention social media) all competing for their precious time, there can be a drop in activity when kids hit their teens. We want to help young people develop a life-long love of exercise. From bespoke classes to access to our welcoming gyms, we've made sure there are lots of ways for teens to get involved and stay active.
From independent time in the gym or in the pool, to joining the family in a group exercise class, David Lloyd Clubs has so much on offer for teens. And the benefits don’t stop with the physical. Exercise benefits every part of the body, including the mind. It can help teens with their focus and sleep – essential for growing teenagers. Keeping active also has a positive impact on their mental health and is proven to lower stress and decrease feelings of anxiety. Perfect for helping them thrive when things get tough.
There’s so much on offer for teens:
If your teen would like to hit the gym but doesn’t know where to start, this is for them. The Gym Start Up programme provides a simple introduction to gym equipment to make sure they feel confident and stay safe. Once they’ve completed this induction, kids from 10+ are free to use the gym during supervised sessions or when accompanied by a grown up. And once they hit 15, they can use the gym freely with no supervision.
What better way to have some quality family fun time than with an upbeat workout class? From cycling to circuits, BATTLEBOX to Rebels BLAZE, there’s a host of ways to stay active and stay connected.
And for those aged 14+ they can join in a number of other group classes, including Zumba®, BODYPUMP™ and yoga.
For tennis-loving teens, there are weekly lessons available at most of our Clubs with LTA-qualified coaches. These are available for a small additional cost. We also offer social club sessions, junior cardio tennis and a variety of competitions to keep teens involved.
If swimming is your teen’s passion, our Swim Team sessions could be ideal. These weekly hour-long sessions are aimed at perfecting their swimming technique and improving stamina. These are available for at a small additional cost.
Children aged 10+ can always use the pool by themselves during family swim times (upon completion of a Shark Test). And as soon as they hit 16, they can use the pool independently during adult swim time, not to mention make use of the sauna, steam room and poolside spas.
